The Painting that fetched one crore - (Photo)

Everyone is well aware that Salman Khan paints as one of his hobbies. He has made several paintings over the last few years. However art connoisseurs claim that actor Salman Khan’s painting skills are average and limited to a passionate hobby.

Many art experts have implied that Salman’s paintings do not have high commercial value as his painting skills are in a nascent stage. However no one, not even art connoisseurs would have imagined that a painting done by Salman Khan would actually fetch around Rs. One crore.

Sources claim that at first Salman Khan did not want to talk about his painting skills and he had to be coaxed by his family and friends to show his work to others. Over the years Salman has been painting and has gifted many of his friends in the film industry some of his paintings. But a reluctant Salman was recently convinced by Anil Kapoor to auction some of his paintings for a charitable cause. Salman agreed to auction off some of his paintings as he was keen to help several NGO’s involved in charitable work.

Salman’s work was being auctioned off by the Plan India charitable NGO; however Salman was not too happy with the amount that one of his paintings was fetching. A particular painting that was close to Salman’s heart was fetching only Rs.20 lakhs which Sallu thought was too paltry a sum for his prized possession. Salman claimed that the particular painting was very precious as it speaks about the emotions between a mother and a son. Hence Salman decided to withdraw that particular painting from the auction. Salman claimed that when he fetched the desired price he would donate the money later to the NGO.

It seems now in hindsight that Salman made a smart move by withdrawing the painting from the auction as he has now fetched around Rs. One crore for that same piece of art.

The deal between Salman and the client who bought the painting for around Rs. One crore was done over the phone. However Salman has now decided that the proceeds from this painting will now go to his own personal Salman Khan Foundation which he has recently set up to fund charitable causes.

Salman’s father Salim Khan confirms that Salman has sold the painting which he had pulled out from the auction for a good price, he says “I know for sure that the amount has gone to the Salman Khan Foundation and it will benefit the needy that the foundation supports.”
