RSS welcomes Sanjay Dutt's conviction

New Delhi, August 4: The RSS has welcomed the jailing of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt for possessing weapons illegally as a "well-deserved" punishment.

In an editorial in its mouthpiece "Organiser", it, however, flayed the role of the media over its coverage of Dutt's case as "revolting".

"Nobody asks what this man was doing with AK-47s and AK-56 in his house. In India, most of the high-profile culprits go scot-free and by handing down the well-deserved punishment to Dutt, Justice (Pramod Dattaram) Kode has once again proved that the Indian judiciary delivers justice, albeit a little delayed," the editorial said.

The verdict, it said, has come as a relief to the "patriots" and the families of 257 people killed and 800 injured in the 1993 Bombay serial explosions.
