Delhi Gurgaon Express Highway to be operational in Dec 2006

The prestigious Delhi Gurgaon Express Highway will be operational by Dec 2006. This will considerably reduce commuting time between Delhi Gurgaon from present 60 minutes to 20 minutes.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 700 cr covering total length of 27.70 km. The original cost of the project was around 550 cr, which was later increased to Rs. 200 due to change in scope of work.

The expressway will have 8 & 6 lanes covering 22.33 km and 5.37 kms respectively. It will have total of 11 flyovers and underpasses.

The Expressway from Delh would start from Rao Tula Ram Marg via Palam, Mahipalpur, kapashera, Udyog Vihar, Kendriya Viha, IFFCO Chowk, South City, Sector 31, Jharsa and finally ending at Hero Honda Chowk in Haryana.

The Expressway will have total of 32 lane toll collection points. There will total of 3 toll collection points on the expressway. It is estimated that around 150000 vehicles would be using the expressway.

Commuters traveling to and from International Airport and Domestic Airport would use the elavated access loop without any traffic signal.

The service roads measuring 46.80 kms will cater to local traffic without interfering with long distance through traffic while providing access to local business establishments.

The Delhi Gurgaon Expressway would have a 24 hours Surveillance / Patrolling. This will help in monitoring encroachments, unauthorised access to expressway, reporting of any accidents and maintenance of highway. It will also provide facilities like Medical First Aid, Ambulance, Police help, Crane service, Vehicle repair service, Fire tender service. The expressway would also have a 24x7 helpline number 0124-2450800.
